Beryl's and Reg's Birthdays

Elvis lookey-likey, Barry came to entertain for Beryl's Birthday.
Happy Birthday Beryl.

We had Ronnie Ceroc booked for Reg's birthday but he didn't turn up. We rang Emergency Entertainment Helpline Ken and he came and did the business. Thanks Ken and Happy birthday Reg.

GO PINK DAY Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Everyone (or nearly everyone Tim...) got into the spirit of things and dressed in pink and raised money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer . It was also movement to music so it made that more fun. In fact it was so much fun that we're thinking of having a colour themed day every month. A pink quiz followed with everyone trying to think of pink things - pink elephant, pink champagne, pink gin , pink panther, pink...

Toys R Us!

Chat club this week was all about childhood toys and games. Wartime meant few bought toys but Derek remembered his father making a penny whistle. Renee remembered a favourite doll whose head fell off but luckily Dad was on hand to fix it and father Christmas brought Mary a baby doll with eyes that opened and closed.

We tried to have a game of marbles but they wouldn't stay on the table very well.

'Salt, mustard, vinegar, pepper, etc' and 'All in together girls, never mind the weather girls' were 2 skipping rhymes that Renee and Mary remembered. Donna did the skipping but unfortunately there's no photo!

Next week we're going to string some conkers and have a game .

Renee kept up her secretarial skills sending e-mails to her family whilst Ada watched Tommy Cooper on Youtube. Unfortunately the broadband speed was a bit too slow for Mary and her daughter to talk properly on Skype, although we did manage to hear her.

Carla's Puppy comes to Visit

Carla brought in one of her Jack Russel puppies to meet everyone. Dick was particularly smitten.

Hellos and Goodbye

We are sorry to report that Vallee has passed away after a short illness. Our thoughts are with her family.

We would like to welcome Doreen Bridges and Derek Cooper who have recently joined us. We hope you will be very happy at Woodspring House.

John's Birthday

John had a busy day with a steady stream of visitors including a nephew and baby great nephew who came for lunch and he went out for tea with his son as well. In between all that we had Ken and his friend Hugh come to entertain. Hugh plays the accordion and trumpet which was a special treat for John as he used to play.

Make do and Mend

Chat Club theme this week was Make do and Mend. Donna had a good rummage and came up with darning mushrooms, darning needles, a rag rug and the equipment for making it, dress patterns, woodworking tools for the men and some of Tim's woolly socks with holes in. Thank you Renee for fixing them. Our four legged rag rug Ruby also came in, and took John and Tim for a walk down the river to Gogg's Mill and back through the town.
