Marmalade Time

It's that time of year again. It only seems like yesterday that we were doing it last year. The cutting, the juicing the zesting and the sweet smells of marmalade wafting through the home brought back lots of memories. Ellen thought she'd try and eat a bit of orange but they're not as sweet as they look.

Chat Club does Washday

Donna brought in all the things we needed for a successful wash-day from the powder to the flat-iron to finish with. All we were missing was a post to tie the washing line to so Derrick kindly volunteered, while Mary M. and Gwen hung up the sheets. Mary M. could remember her dog Peter used to love jumping in the tin bath and getting wet.

Movement to Music

Mick W.  had some special visitors who joined us for movement to music. As well as his wife Judy, his son, daughter in law and grandson came too.

Friday Club with Jo Baldwin

Jo brought in various items from the kitchen of yesteryear and these stimulated lots of conversation. The butter-pats brought back memories of buying butter off the slab in the shop. They were used to handle the butter so it kept its shape. Other items included a whisk, pastry cutters, a ladle used to transfer milk and a blue bag that was used for buying sugar. Mary C's husband Bill came to visit and helped with the memories. Tim and Donna's daughter Colette made a rare appearance too.

A NEW MANAGER

We are very pleased to announce that Gaynor Rawstron is our new manager. She is very experienced and has recently been working for the County Council doing training in their care homes and has in the past had experience of running homes.

We would like to apologise for the lack of recent news stories but the priority has been to keep the home running smoothly. Normal service will now resume.

New Year's Eve

We started our New Year celebrations a bit earlier than most, with John Harris on the piano and Ken providing the entertainment. We had some bucks fizz and cake to get in the mood and finished off holding hands with a rousing Auld Lang Syne.

Christmas Day

On Christmas morning the Mayor of Fakenham, Adrian Vertigan came to wish us well. Afterwards it was quite a rush getting round and opening presents before lunch. The photographer was a bit busy but managed a few snaps! A big thank you to all the staff who did their bit to make it a special day.
