Happy Birthday Pardner (Micks Birthday)

Mick likes Country and Western so we got our checked shirts and stetsons on for an afternoon of music and fun. Hank Williams and  Johnny Cash (alias Ken)  flew in from Memphis to entertain with his usual style.

Putting Marzipan on the Cake

The Christmas Cake is another step closer to completion now, having had it's layer of jam and marzipan put on.

Remembrance Sunday

We were blessed with good weather for our annual walk up to the War Memorial for the Remembrance Sunday Parade. The boom, boom of the bass drum could be heard coming down Norwich Road quite a while before we could hear the rest of the band, and then the parade marched past us and assembled around the memorial. The last post and then the silence is perhaps the most poignant bit.
George was disappointed that there was no representative from the Navy.

Donna asked the bagpiper to do the honours for us on Burn's Night but unfortunately he's fully booked so he's coming one lunch time that week to pipe in the haggis and he's also coming on St Andrew's Day.

Thank you to all the staff, friends and family who came to help.

Christmas Cake

It's that time of year again and we're looking forward to Christmas. We got the ingredients all weighed, mixed and in the tin and Pearl baked it for us.

Happy Birthday Larry

Remember, remember the 5th of November because it's Larry's Birthday. Razz the clown and Auntie Pearl came to entertain and brought a lot of laughs, music and merriment.

Goodbye to Harry

We are sorry to report that Harry has passed away in hospital. Our thoughts are with his family.

Conkers a hit!

Gordon and Colette got busy stringing the conkers before the competition began.  Gordon could remember putting a bit of lead in his conkers for extra weight and Renee remembered soaking them in vinegar and baking them in the oven. We didn't bother with any tricks but it seems playing conkers is a bit like riding a bike. Once you know how to do it, it soon comes back. Gordon was champion with 9 hits on the trot.
